Treasures Along the Way

We moved to a new place
It seemed I wouldn’t see them again

I missed them so much
They always brought a spark of joy to my heart

I love watching their soaring, diving and flitting about
Sometimes they stopped and looked at me for a long while

Sometimes they hopped on the ground right in front of me
Their playfulness and purpose was a wonder to behold

Today they came! They found me again!
I could almost jump with delight upon seeing them again!

Brilliant red, dressed like a king
How could anything compare?

I know there is a God for many reasons
One of them is the glorious cardinals that returned

Mystical and magical they are to me
Messengers from my loved one who has passed

I can get through the constant pain in my body
When I see such beauty and splendor before my eyes

Beautiful birds, you are precious to me!
Beautiful birds, please never go away!
