Treasures Along the Way

This time-encased existence we are in can lead to losing sight of what is most important
Temporary pleasures and worldly accolades are so fleeting

When we are young, we can’t imagine this life ever being over
We can’t imagine turning into a white-haired, slower moving human

Whether we die young or old,  we can become wise and full of compassion and love
The lessons are available for each of us if we pay attention

Observing many whose lives and deaths have told of the depth of emptiness 
Of choosing temporary, dark pleasures or fame and fortune over all else-

Then seeing those whose lives and deaths testify of their choice to give incredible service and love-
To all they’ve left behind and changed for the better 

These two contrasts show us the better way, the choice that leads to fulfillment and purpose now and joys beyond this life

As time marches on, unless we are cold and full of pride, certain truths become clear-
Being kind, humble, forgiving and loving is more important than all other traits

Seeing God’s love through our family and loved ones gives us clarity to prepare
for the next life which will surely come

He is real, He is Love, He sent His Son,  which is the essence of His love for us to see and feel-
So pure, so real, so life-changing if we dare to embrace it

The adversary is equally real and knows every trick in the book-
to distract us, discourage us, tempt us, lie to us and even capture us, sometimes unawares

What is true is always true, no matter whether we believe it or not
Truth is shining, eternal and unchanging

The darkness is thick right now over the earth
But we can be filled with Light and Truth

Peace and freedom from chains, lies and darkness
Permeating our every cell
